About Us

QSI-AIS:

QSI Ashgabat International School, a member of Quality Schools International (QSI), is a private, non-profit, coeducational, college-preparatory institution. QSI schools serve international communities in cities where they are located. Twenty-five of the 37 QSI schools are in cities that house American Embassies or Consulates. The Office of Overseas Schools of the US Department of State give small grants to 17 of these locations, and QSI schools are the recipients. QSI Ashgabat was founded in 1994 to provide a quality education in English for expatriates and local citizens who are seeking a English education option for their children.

Philosophy:

QSI International School of Ashgabat believes in a personalized approach to instruction leading to mastery within a positive and enjoyable learning environment. It offers a challenging academic curriculum for students ages 2 years old through 18. Studies are tailored to meet the needs of each individual student.

Enrollment:

The school encompasses Pre-K through Secondary IV with a current enrollment of 200. The middle school’s enrollment is 25 and there are 60 students in the high school. QSI Ashgabat represents 25 different nationalities with 25% being citizens of the United States or North America.

Grading System:

Teachers evaluate mastery of each essential unit with an A or B. B represents mastery at a sufficiently high level, and A represents mastery at a significantly high level with the student consistently demonstrating higher-order thinking skills. Mediocre or poor work, resulting in Cs and Ds is not accepted, as students are required to engage in an essential unit until they achieve mastery. Students who master a unit with a B evaluation may attempt to demonstrate a higher level of mastery at a later time, within a given time period, to change the evaluation to an A. Student performance is assessed on each essential unit completed.
